Crawlspace Nightmare
We looked at a crawl space last week that was straight out of a horror movie. There were multiple broken floor joists, black mold everywhere that was covered in cobwebs of white fuzzy mold. The rim joist were also buckling out. After killing two black widows, I had had enough.
All of this was easily avoidable. An inspection done twice a year, done by yourself or by a qualified inspector, could have saved this family $80,000 in repairs.
If you're not sure what's happening under your own house, a simple visual inspection twice a year can save you from a much bigger, much more expensive problem down the road. Look for moisture, sagging joists, pest activity, and insulation that's fallen or missing. If anything looks off, it's worth having someone experienced take a closer look before small issues become structural ones.
